This whole debate will never end as we as developers and designers have favourites of our own and we even go as far as helping the development of theses platforms grow. I have come to my conclusion about the BIG 3.. I hvae put them in order their order of being user friendly and powerful..
Wordpress
Wordpress is very easy to setup and configure.. its an excellent platform to use for creating a website that lets you quickly get your site out on the web, just as much as its often used as a blog, it can be customised to work in many other interesting ways as well.
- Very user friendly
- Excellent for blogging
- Not so powerful
Joomla!
Didnt know that Joomla is a Swahili (Urdu)word meaning (all together) .. and thats what Joomla! is all about. Joomla! is the level between Wordpress and Drupal, Still very user friendly but not like Wordpress and very powerful but not as Drupal. This is a platform admired more by designers rather than hands-on code developers.. has thousands of the components and modules and is the fastest growing CMSs out in the market.. even though it limits you.
- Friendly for users, designers and developers
- Very huge community for assisting and growing the platform
- Vulnerable to hackers
Drupal
If you’re the type of person who who is more hands on with code or if you enjoy tweaking the code that makes up the framework of a website, then Drupal is probably for you. Drupal seems more powerful to the other 2 with all the tags and functions it has.. even though it’s community background isn’t as great as I expected. Developers feel home to Drupal.
- Developers love it
- Create high performing website
- Complicated to jump into
All you should know is one platform is greater than the other.. Only the sites goals and intention will guide you with platform to use.. I use all 3 even though I am more Joomla! orientated .. so if you still wondering which platform is best amongst the 3.. Mfundo says there isnt one until you know what you want do!
